A little background on me and my family and why I am starting this blog. My husband and I have 3 amazing kiddos. Our oldest son just turned 10, our daughter would have been 7 this year, and our youngest son will be 4.
Almost 7 years ago on July 11th we had our 20 week sonogram for our 2nd baby. We were going to find out the gender (have it put in an envelope so we could be surprised on our gender reveal party) and see our baby for the first time since we found out we were pregnant again. The next thing we knew we had a baby on the way with a heart defect and could possibly have down syndrome. I did not want to do any testing until after she was born for DS.
Once she arrived it was a rollercoaster ride and we went through so much that I felt the need to share our experiences in hopes that someone else that may be going through the same thing or something similar will take comfort in knowing there’s a lot more of us out there going through similar situations than you realize. To top off our journey with her, she lost her battle with everything on February 5, 2020 right before the Covid shutdown. So we not only went through countless surgeries, emergencies, and illnesses with her, but then lost her after it all. Next our grieving journey began in the midst of a pandemic and then out of nowhere I got pregnant again with our 3rd child. We like to believe he was a gift from his sister to us. I hope that even if just one person can get a little something out of this, it’ll have been worth it to share.
